To help you decide on the best campground for your trip, we’ve organized our area campgrounds by the primary type of camping they tend to accommodate. What Type of Camping Experience Are You Up for This Summer?
Rustic Tent Camping
If you love to embrace nature and aren’t really interested in extras or activities, we suggest booking at either Silver Lake State Park right here in town or Enchanted Pebawma Lake Campground near Walkerville.
Both campgrounds offer electric/water options if you’re interested, but in general, the sites are rustic. Just keep in mind that Silver Lake State Park is in town, so you’ll also be close to the action of the area.
Family Adventure Camping
Camping families can especially benefit from campgrounds that office activities, amenities, and events. Silver Lake area has a host of family campgrounds and resorts like this, including:

Many of these locations offer pools, playgrounds, sports courts, and more. Some even have outdoor movie nights, fun family events, holiday activities, arts and crafts days, etc.
Camping on the Water
Camping near the water is a unique experience that many guests are particularly looking for. Imagine being able to walk down to the lake first thing each morning, swim or fish at your leisure during the day, and hear the lapping waves as you sleep.
If you’d like a site on the water while you’re in Silver Lake, we recommend:
- Dunes Harbor Family Camp (on Holiday Lake)
- John Gurney Park (on Hart Lake)
- Sandy Shores Campground (across from Silver Lake but with private beach access you can easily walk to)
Sometimes, you just want a camping trip that’s “no kids allowed.” If that’s your vibe this summer, try Val-Du Lakes Campground. “Val-Du” caters uniquely to adults with their on-site bar and grille and frequent live music events that they host throughout the summer.
