A Weekend Getaway
Silver Lake isn’t just a favorite destination for ORV lovers, it’s also the perfect place to take a weekend getaway with your significant other. Silver Lake combines many of your favorite date night activities with its own spin.
Your first step is to find a place to stay. Would you rather enjoy the outdoors while camping? You and your person can share a laugh while trying to start a fire, make a mess while eating s’mores, and search for constellations twinkling overhead when sky goes dark. There are many beautiful campgrounds in the Silver Lake area, so be sure to find the perfect one for your vacation.
If camping isn’t for you, then you have your pick of local hotels and resorts from the cozy Sierra Sands to Dunes Express Inn & Suites in Hart (which is right next to a 22 mile hiking trail). Check in to Dunes Waterfront Resort right next to the pristine waters of Silver Lake or head to Silver Sands Resort to compete against each other in shuffleboard or hop into the heated pool.
Once you’ve got your place to stay, now it’s time to pick the perfect itinerary. With many wineries in the area, one (or two!) is a must have for your list. At Fox Barn, you can find live music on Fridays while sipping one of their signature wines and snacking on a Barn Bites board. Another local winery, Pleasant Valley Farm & Vineyard, has been family owned for over 50 years. Not only are their wines 100% sourced from their farm, they also have 3 different housing options to choose from. Two boast views of Crystal Lake, while the third is situated near a lake on the property.
The Little Sable Lighthouse is always a gorgeous destination to walk the beach. While you’re there, you can also catch one of Lake Michigan’s signature sunsets. If you two are feeling ambitious, you can even make the climb up the lighthouse and learn a little history along the way!
If you’re a competitive couple, then maybe Craig’s Cruisers is the place for you. Try out the challenging 18-hole mini golf course or race each other around the go kart track. To get a grand view of Silver Lake, you can head up to their zip line- a great way to finish off a fun time at Craig’s Cruisers.
Before you head to one of the many ice cream shops in the area, perhaps you’ll want to find a place to sit down for dinner. Big Hart Brewing Co is always a delicious option, or you can eat at the Silver Eatery to try Vietnamese cuisine. Golden Sands Golf and Bucket Bar has a great atmosphere with a range of food options too. You won’t go hungry while you’re here!
It wouldn’t be a weekend getaway in Silver Lake without going to one of the many ice cream shops in the area. Try out the Test Hill at the Whippy Dip, or get your favorite scoop of Country Dairy ice cream at Silver Scoops. At Tasty Creationz, you can order a bucket of fries with your flurry.
There are so many amazing things to do in Silver Lake to create the perfect vacation plans for you and your person.
