Silver Lake Sand Dunes 4th of July Weekend Guide
Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with a big BANG in the Silver Lake Sand Dunes area! This iconic Fourth of July destination offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, from cruising across the sand dunes to cooling off with a swim in Lake Michigan. Whether you’re firing up the grill with family and friends or simply soaking in the summer atmosphere, it’s a weekend filled with classic traditions, unforgettable firework shows, and memories you’ll carry long after the fireworks fade.
Out of all the firework displays that go on throughout the state, there’s something truly special about the shows we put on here in the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area. Not only do our communities put on three consecutive nights of fireworks (July 2, 3 & 4) each Independence Day, but all three nights have their own unique spin on the traditional firework display.
Here’s what you can expect from our area’s top three 4th of July weekend celebrations this year:
Thunder Over the Dunes Fireworks Over Silver Lake Sand Dunes
Saturday, July 4th in Silver Lake 10:30-11pm when dark enough
If you’ve never experienced fireworks over the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, let us be the first to tell you it’s a sight unlike any other. Watch each blast and bloom of color as it simultaneously reflects off the waters of Silver Lake and illuminates the grandeur of the Dunes. Spectators are free to find their own cozy spot on the shores of Silver Lake or on the Dunes sitting on one of the dunes or in their own ORV. You can also take boats or kayaks out onto Silver Lake to get a stunning view.

Pentwater Fireworks
Friday, July 3rd in Pentwater
Everyone should see fireworks over Lake Michigan at least once in their lives. The sight of those stunning colors bursting in the air and those loud cracks! and booms! over the lakeshore are part of a thrill you’ll always remember. The Pentwater firework display on Lake Michigan and Pentwater Pier has been a revered tradition for years and one you won’t want to miss it!

Hart Sparks Firework Show
Thursday, July 2nd in Hart
Downtown Hart will be celebrating Independence Day in style this year with live music, food trucks, kids activities, and of course, fireworks! If you’re in the mood for more than just a firework show, however, be sure to join us a bit earlier in the evening (6pm) at Hart Commons to shop the downtown area, the social district beverages, and activities for the kids. It’ll be a night of fun for all ages!
