It’s Been a Spectacular 2019 for Silver Lake

While bundling up against the falling snow and frigid temperatures, why not grab your mug of coffee or cocoa and reminisce about the fun that was had this year in Silver Lake?

 

Jeeps Invade!

The 2019 Silver Lake Jeep Invasion was the biggest yet, with 1,600 Jeeps registered from all over the country. From May 31th to June 2nd, the hills were alive with the rumble of off-road family fun, dune rides, fireworks, and live music. One can only imagine what the next year will bring, as it’s already one of Silver Lake Sand Dunes most anticipated events!

If you missed the Jeep Invasion this year, don’t worry — just make sure May 29-31 is on your 2020 calendar. You won’t be disappointed.

 

Clear Skies & Thunder for the 4th

The hills were still full of life come the fourth of July, as Silver Lake’s “Thunder Over the Dunes” drew in a larger than usual crowd. The display was nothing short of breathtaking, featuring unique explosions against the deep, inky sky. Everyone agrees it’s like nothing you’ll ever see in the city. It’s without a doubt the best of Silver Lake camping and 4th of July splendor, with ample grounds to grill and chill with friends and family.

Make sure you don’t miss the display in 2020 — Silver Lake Dunes is the place to be for the ultimate fireworks display.

 

Full Bellies, Huge Turnout

This year’s Apple and BBQ Festival was host to 15,000 people, marking it as the biggest year the event has had to date. Attendees enjoyed the finest Michigan BBQ, and the luscious apples that Oceana County’s known for. The festival also included a Classic Auto and ORV show, craft booths, kid’s activities, and live music. You’ll want to add September 11-12  on your calendar for next year!

Peppered throughout the rumble of jeeps and thunder of fireworks, Silver Lake did not fall short on live entertainment that caters to everyone! The Fox Barn did not disappoint with their infamous live concerts, and the Little Sable Point Lighthouse concert series and music festivals dazzled from summer to fall.

 

The Fun’s Not Over!

The dunes may be closed for the season, but there’s still plenty that makes for a great West Michigan vacation for the holidays. Winter is a magical time of year, and here in Silver Lake that’s no exception!

If you haven’t checked it out before, the Hart-Montague Bike Trail is just as beautiful and fun in the winter as it is throughout Spring, Summer, and Fall. Enjoy cross country skiing, snowmobiling, or simply take a stroll with that special someone!

Plan a day of shopping! There are tons of gems scattered throughout Silver Lake, from general stores to specialty and gift shops, to banks, grocery, and convenience stores. They’re all in close proximity, making it an easy choice to plan a weekend Up North.

Good Eatin’. Thanks to multitudes of locally grown produce, there’s a unique plethora of eateries to choose from. Whether you want to grab a quick bite to eat or have a romantic sit-down for two, you’ll have no trouble finding the perfect place in Silver Lake.

Lodging for Every Need. Though the campgrounds are closed for the winter season, there are still plenty of cozy lodging options in the area. From modern hotels and motels with all the amenities to a charming historic bed and breakfast, there’s a place for you and yours this winter in Silver Lake.
