On “Giving Tuesday”, December 3rd, the Country Dairy Family will host a celebration of Early Literacy, from 3pm to 6pm, at the New Era Country Dairy, located at 3476 South 80th Avenue.
The Country Dairy Family is partnering with the United Way of the Lakeshore (UWL), Oceana County, to promote early literacy through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program (DPIL), available to all Oceana County residents with children between the ages of Birth and Five. Now in its third successful year, over 750 young children have been enrolled in the program, and receive a free, high quality and age-appropriate book mailed to their home each month, in their own name.
Although the program is free to families, regardless of income, and generously subsidized by the Dolly Parton Foundation, the United Way of the Lakeshore in Oceana County raises funds in the community to provide the $25 yearly cost for every child enrolled in the program. This year, the County Dairy Family has agreed to Match local donations, designated for the United Way of the Lakeshore Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Oceana County, to honor the legacy and love of literacy inspired by the family patriarchs, Henry and Ellen Van Gunst, who raised their family on a s
