The Oceana Hispanic Center is uniting Communities through literacy and leadership.

Language/Cultural Support

Our volunteers are trained to help individuals with minor issues regard language and cultural barriers.  We help to put people in contact with the necessary emergency services, and work to assist agencies in connecting with our Spanish speaking residents.

Legal Support

We have volunteers that are able to assist our community members with obtaining their Mexican passport/matricula, file certain immigration forms, apply for Deferred Action, locate a Spanish speaking attorney, and navigate the local legal system with basic issues.

Community Forums/Trainings

We regularly hold trainings and community forums on topics such as education, immigration, finances and family.  Where possible, we work to coordinate these with other local agencies and organizations.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration – Event

The Hispanic culture of Oceana County is celebrated in Hart every September with two days of live music, mariachis, folkloric dance performances, authentic foods, pinatas, fireworks and more.  There will be lots of activities for all members of the family to fave a great time while learning about the Hispanic culture within the Oceana County community.  Events include: Live Music and fireworks at the Hart Commons by Mariachi Nacional, 6pm-9pm Friday.  Saturday activities are 4pm-10pm and include live music, Folkloric dance performances, authentic Hispanic food.

About Us: The Oceana Hispanic Center was formed as an extension of the Migrant Resource Council back in 2004.  We currently operate as a group of interested individuals and board members that volunteer their time and efforts to both raise funds to support unity in our community and carry out programs and initiatives that benefit the residents of Oceana County.  Our primary focus is to “unify our community through literacy and leadership.”  As we continue to grow, we are working to develop the funds and talent necessary to support a staff and base of volunteers to work in our community.  We welcome any support and input from our local community, and look forward to developing meaningful relationships with other agencies, community members and companies in our County of Oceana, as well as throughout West Michigan
