If you’ve never visited Storybook Village in Pentwater, Michigan, a real adventure is awaiting your arrival. More than a bookstore, Storybook Village is an imagination destination where children are encouraged to play, explore and let their imaginations expand. From one corner to another, children are welcome to be a pirate, a princess or take care of the little animals who need a little loving.
With owner/operator Barbara’s knowledge of childhood learning, and her husband Tom’s architectural flair for bringing the store to life, Storybook Village truly is a destination experience. The architectural features in the store were inspired from centennial landmarks in Pentwater and showcase perfectly all of the award winning books, puppets, musical instruments and interactive toys that engage children of all ages in imaginative play.
Starlight Theatre, added in 2013, delights hundreds of kids every year with interactive puppet shows, art and storytelling workshops, author visits, as well as school field trips and birthday parties.
This vision has been recognized and honored by teachers as one of the top 14 children’s bookstores in the United States. Since being discovered by people outside of Pentwater, parents, grandparents, educators and children come to Pentwater just to take in Storybook Village.

Summer Theatre and Art Activities in Starlight Theatre Begin June 15th, 2022!
“Step Inside a Story” Sessions
Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:30am to 11:15am
Act, dance and sing in your own puppet show featuring our delightful “Watch and Sing-along” storybook titles. Children will act out our musical stories using puppets, perform their show for their families, and make their own craft for more storytelling adventures!
Fee: $10/per child, Ages 3 and up. Children under 3 no charge.
Creative Art and Storytelling Workshops
Tuesday through Saturday, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm
Experience a variety of Creative Art and Story Workshops featuring our extraordinary art kits from Paris!Choose from a variety of art activities and create your own stories about knights, pirates, princesses and fairies with a variety of unique art materials and designs. Once you’ve created your art and character, you’ll bring it to life with an original story that you’ll present to your family!
Perfect for older 5’s and school age children.
Fee: $12/per child includes all art materials (Original story will be emailed home to continue the adventure!)
FREE Campfire Stories and Songs around the Tee Pee
Thursdays, from 6:30pm to 7:00pm
Join us every Thursday evening at Storybook Village, before the Civic Band Concert, for our free Campfire Storytime and Singalong around the Tee Pee! Weather permitting, we’ll meet at the Gazebo, across from Storybook Village or we’ll gather indoors in Starlight Theatre.
FREE for children of all ages and their families!
Summer Hours—from June 15th to August 30th—are Monday through Saturday, from 10am to 9pm and Sunday, from 10am to 6pm.
